Leda Evans started working for the Indianapolis Urban League at Treatment Plus in September 2007. In February 2008, she transitioned into a Counseling and Testing Specialist role for the Urban League.
Leda conducts HIV/STD education presentations, pre- and post- test counseling and testing for HIV/STDs at Indiana State Department of Mental Health accredited sites such as treatment centers, methadone clinics, Men’s Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), and Volunteers Of America (men’s and women’s). She also offers services to men and women’s shelters.
Her extensive background “with the streets” adds a unique dimension to her outreach enabling her to relate to clients’ struggles and feelings of despair. Her personal success story allows her to build trust with her clients and lets them know they can make a difference.
Leda went back to college at the age of 50, achieving Dean’s List Honors six (6) times and graduating with honors. Leda earned a degree in Substance Abuse Counseling, and she is also a certified Phlebotomist which aids her job counseling testing and assisting at-risk populations. She loves the work she does because is giving back and helping others to have hope in our community.
Leda married Oscar Evans in 2013 and has three (3) children. She is a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.
