Ball State University, Ethan Powell, Shortridge High School class of 2023
Ethan Powell, the 2023 Burke, Dabner, Rodman Family Scholarship Program recipient, is a freshman at Ball State University majoring in Construction Management. Since Ethan was little, he has always wanted to study something he was very passionate about and knew he would use, a college education will allow him to do that.
While at Shortridge High School, Ethan received academic and student-athlete accolades. In his senior year, he received the Rising Star of Indiana award and the Shortridge High Student of the Month Award for being open-minded. Throughout his time at Shortridge, Ethan played on the varsity basketball for four years and was a member of the varsity track team for three years. In his junior and senior years, he received Second Team All-PAAC Conference, honorable mention all-city and MVP his junior year, and co-MVP his senior year basketball. In his sophomore year, he placed 4th in the city in long jump and earned the most improved award for the [track] team.
