1. Bishop Steering Technology –  a designer of steering gear technologies for the automotive and racing industries, is planning an expansion in Indianapolis, creating up to 25 jobs by 2014. Bishop says it will invest more than $10 million to lease and equip a new facility. The company, which currently has 26 full-time employees in Indiana, plans to begin hiring production engineers, operators and logistics associates next year. 2. The Container Store is recruiting for its first Indianapolis store, which is set to open Saturday, October 8th. Applications are currently being accepted online at www.containerstore.com/careers. Candidates will participate in an interactive group interview and will be expected to show their ability to work in teams as well as demonstrate their selling skills. 3. Harrison College - a 6,100 student private sector college based in Indianapolis, announced today that it will offer five new degree programs when students start the new Fall Term on September 26. The new programs are: Interactive Media Design (Bachelor’s Degree), Logistics (Associate’s Degree), Project Management (Bachelor’s Degree), Fashion Merchandising (Bachelor’s Degree), and Health Informatics (Bachelor’s Degree). Demand in the job market was the primary factor in the decision to add the new programs, according to Harrison College officials. 4. Indiana University -  Investors are pouring money into a new entrepreneur competition, Building Entrepreneurs in Software Technology (BEST), that will award prizes to students who submit the best plans for a student led company focused on Internet and software development. First place winners can expect to receive $100,000 dollars or more to invest in their company. Plans must be submitted by Nov. 15, and the initial business plans and presentations of selected teams will be completed by Feb. 3. Prize winners will be announced mid April 2012.

5. Ivy Tech Community College - the state’s largest work force training operation is expanding again. Over the last few weeks, Ivy Tech has announced that it will launch a new Corporate College that will focus on developing and introducing statewide training, certifications, and skills-improvement courses aimed at helping state business’ sustain and grow profits. By fall 2012, Ivy Tech in partnership with the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) will open a logistic campus near the Indianapolis International Airport. 6. Indianapolis Star and Career Builder.com - are gearing up for the Career Diversity & Education Fair being held on October 12th, inside the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre. The job fair is expected to draw over 1,000 job seekers. Area businesses are encouraged to reserve booth space early, space is limited, and priority booth placement is based on your registration date. 7. Kaleidoscope Youth Center – is enrolling men and women into its Kaleidoscope Education Enrichment Program (K.E.E.P).  Applicants must be between the ages of 18 – 24, and have dropped out of high school, and are ready to graduate and move onto college.  Participants will receive instruction in preparation for the G.E.D exam or the High School Credit Recovery Program.  K.E.E.P will also provide hands on training to participants who are considering a career in transportation, or aviation. 8. Key Bank – opened a new branch at 2376 E. Stop 11 Road in Indianapolis. This is Key’s 13th new branch in the Indianapolis area since 2009. “At a time when many banks are closing branches, we’re taking a different approach,” said Gary Hentschel, president of Key’s Central Indiana district. “We have expanded our branch network and created more than 70 jobs. 9. Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt – an Oklahoma-based frozen yogurt chain is planning to expand in Indiana. Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt says it intends to have 15 stores throughout the state in 2012. It currently has locations in Carmel, Fishers, Avon and Evansville.

Local storeowners Mark and Christy Baugh, who opened Indiana’s first Orange Leaf in Carmel in December 2010 and another in Fishers in June, will open two more locations by year’s end. The Baughs have signed a lease on a space in Noblesville at 141st and State Road 37, where their third Orange Leaf location is set to open around Halloween.

Orange Leaf will have 15 stores across the state in 2012. Locations are planned for Bloomington, Brownsburg, Columbus, Franklin, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Noblesville, Plainfield, Shelbyville, and Zionsville. 10. Project Lead the Way -  plans to relocate its relocate its headquarters from New York to Indianapolis. 11. Royal United Mortgage –    a provider of consumer mortgage and home equity financing, has announced plans to expand operations and create up to 140 jobs by 2013. The company plans to invest more than $1.85 million to lease a new facility. Royal United, which currently employs 151 associates in Indianapolis, has already begun hiring new mortgage advisory, operations, technology and servicing associates later this year. 12. St. Elmo’s -  has announced that it will be expanding its lounge on the second floor of the restaurant. The expansion will add an additional 60 seats and an adjoining dining room. 13. Tech Point & Ice Miller – have partnered to develop a new adaptation of its popular Indiana Entrepreneur Bootcamp on Friday, Sept. 30. The daylong seminar will be held at startup incubator DeveloperTown's new facility in the Broad Ripple area.

Attendees will learn how to transform business startups into profitable companies from some of the most well-known and successful Indiana entrepreneurs and service professionals. The seminar will begin with workshops on critical operations topics like business planning, building the product, building the management team and fundraising, to name a few. A "Lessons from the Trenches" luncheon will feature a panel discussion with several prominent, veteran entrepreneurs. The afternoon session - dubbed "Lessons from the Front Lines" - will be filled with presentations by experienced entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors.

14. Tridien Medical - has opened a plant in Fishers and plans to create up to 40 jobs by 2013, with 25 to be added in the next 12 months. The therapeutic product manufacturer says establishing a Midwest location is a critical step in its growth. Tridien Medical is a leading designer and manufacturer of medical therapeutic support surfaces and patient positioning devices known for its SenTech, PrimaTech, ReactiveAir and Anatomic Concepts branded products, used for the prevention and treatment of pressure wounds experienced by patients with limited to no mobility. 15. WGU Indiana – will soon begin enrolling Hoosier students in its innovative B.S. in Nursing (Prelicensure) program thanks to a recent approval from the Indiana Board of Nursing. Offered in partnership with several Indiana hospitals and community based healthcare agencies, the program is designed to prepare students for initial licensure as registered nurses. Enrollment will begin this fall, and applications are now being accepted.

The innovative program was initially launched by WGU Indiana’s parent institution, Western Governors University, in 2009. The CCNE-approved program, which has also been approved by the California, Texas, Utah and Florida state nursing boards, combines WGU Indiana’s online, competency-based academic approach with intensive clinical simulations and clinical practice supervised by onsite clinical coaches and clinical instructors serving as WGU Indiana adjunct faculty. More than 100 students are currently enrolled, and the first class of students from across the county graduated in July of this year.

WGU Indiana is an approved education provider for Indiana state grants and scholarships offered through the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI). In addition, the university has partnered with Ivy Tech to offer graduates who have completed their associate’s degrees a seamless transfer to complete their bachelor’s degrees at WGU Indiana, including application fee waivers and tuition discounts.
