The Indianapolis Urban League’s New Beginnings Program will be held from March 19, 2015- March 30, 2018.  To be considered for enrollment, you must attend the mandatory Information Session which will be on Thurs., March 15th at 11:00am at the Indianapolis Urban League (777 Indiana Ave.).  The New Beginnings Program is designed to help individuals 18 years of age and older successfully transition from assistance, incarceration, unemployment or underemployment to self-sufficiency.  New Beginnings offers intensive workforce development workshops over a two-week period (9:00am-1:00pm) covering topics ranging from goal setting, workplace diversity, utilizing social media, dealing with difficult customers, conflict resolution, time management, telephone etiquette, resume and cover letter writing to interviewing and job retention strategies.  After successfully completing the program, participants graduate from the program and receive priority job placement assistance with our Preferred Employers.    The Preferred Employer Program assists successful New Beginnings Program completers with securing and retaining employment by streamlining the application, screening and hiring process with local employers.  If you or someone you know is currently unemployed; currently working but still struggling to pay bills; would like a career instead of a job; are interested in the construction industry; are a veteran or ex-offender that has difficulty finding employment; are interested in learning what employers can and cannot ask you during a job interview; are interested in learning more about how your behavior on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and Instagram can hurt your chances of finding employment; would like to secure employment with one of the Indianapolis Urban League Preferred Employers; or interview with a Preferred Employer on site at the Indianapolis Urban League and bypass the long application process call (317) 693-7603 for additional information.
